Steel Toe Work Boot Protection

Believe it or not, there was a time where I scoffed at the idea of needing additional protection for anything…especially on the toes of my work boots.

I always declined any warranties or paid protection plans, I’d always gripe a little whenever I had to cough up my car insurance money, and frankly I thought being careful and responsible was the only protection I ever needed.

Whelp, that changed the day my brand new steel toe work boots had an ax slice through them.

And boy, you can bet I was kicking myself (with my other good boot) for not having anything to protect them.

My Father is a rugged, outdoorsmen type of guy. So whenever autumn rolls around, you’re sure to find him in the backyard already chopping firewood.

I remember always wanting to help him because it seemed like a fun thing to do, but he always insisted that it was the “head of the house’s job”.

But he would let me help him with the smaller things. It seemed like it was just another autumn with me grabbing the next stack of logs for my dad to chop in half.

Then comes my younger brother, who has a weird habit of trying to give people sneak attack bear hugs from behind. Just as my dad had his ax over his head, out pops my younger brother!

My dad gets off guard and before I know it, I have an ax planted in my left work boot. Thankfully, the boot had taken most of the impact and I only had a scratch compared to how bad it could have been.

But I still wept. Did it hurt like the dickens?

Oh yeah.

But I was really crying because I just lost a boot that had taken me half a summer of miscellaneous chores to buy.

When I told a friend about my story he laughed his arse off. But after he finished having his fun, he introduced me to a line of steel work boot toe protection products.

My personal favorite is tuff toe, a space-age boot protection liquid!

Now it’s like that huge gash in the toe of my boot was never there! But the scar on my left foot still is…
